While Sandals has always been marketed as a couple’s resort, being a couple is not actually required and recently, Sandals has started to shift to be less couples-focused and just focused as a resort for only adults.
At the moment, the Sandals website doesn’t make this clear.
In the FAQs, the website says “Because we wanted to make your vacation as romantic and relaxing as possible, only couples may stay at Sandals.”
You will also notice all of the photos on their marketing material feature couples.
At the same time, one of their taglines is “Sandals Caribbean Resorts for Adults”.
Another example is on the FAQ for Sandals Ochi where it says Sandals Ochi is an adults-only resort, specifically designed for couples.
This is actually how things work out in practice.
While Sandals Resorts is geared towards couples and romance, any adults are welcome.
One way that Sandals Resorts is geared towards couples is pricing, they are priced per person per night. Additionally, they only have king beds so if you travel with friends that may not work for you.
Having visited every Sandals Resort, we mostly see couples, with a few exceptions for wedding parties or families with adult children. Some resorts are a better fit for couples, like Sandals Ochi, Sandals Royal Bahamian or Sandals Grande St Lucian.
Until Sandals makes changes, Sandals resorts are mostly for couples and there are better alternatives if you are looking for fun as a family or group of friends.
