The first difference is that there are three Sandals resorts in St. Lucia, and you have access to all of them no matter which one you stay at. For the purposes of this article, we’ll talk about the biggest resort, Sandals Grande St. Lucian.

Another difference is that Sandals Grenada is very close to the airport—just 5 minutes away—while the Sandals resorts in St. Lucia are all about 90 minutes from the airport.

Also, Sandals Grande St. Lucian has overwater bungalows, while Sandals Grenada doesn’t. And, Sandals Grande St. Lucian includes golf, while Sandals Grenada does not.

About Sandals Grenada

Set between lush green hills and a spectacular beach, Sandals Grenada is very romantic. It’s in St. George’s close to the airport—just a 5-minute transfer—and has some amazingly luxurious suites. There are 5 pools, 2 whirlpools, 10 restaurants, and 6 bars.

About Sandals St. Lucia

Sandals Grande St. Lucian is set on a private peninsula with a gorgeous white-sand beach along Rodney Bay, which offers some of the calmest water on the island, making it perfect for watersports. It has the iconic overwater bungalows, 5 pools, 3 whirlpools, 12 restaurants, and 7 bars. It is 90 minutes from the airport.

Sandals Grenada vs St. Lucia: Beaches

At Sandals Grenada, exclusive Pink Gin Beach is a stretch of soft white sand along calm, clear water. One area is enclosed by rocks to form a sort of natural swimming pool, and it’s also fun for snorkeling. There are plenty of loungers and places to relax.

Sandals Grande St. Lucian features a beautiful mile-long beach with calm turquoise water. We liked that it has several areas—a more active stretch with music and activities, and quieter areas where you can chill. You can also snorkel off the beach here.

Sandals Grenada vs. St. Lucia: Restaurants

We enjoyed the food at both Sandals Grenada and Grande St. Lucian. You’ll have many more options in St. Lucia, however, since you can dine at all three resorts.

Sandals Grenada has 10 restaurants and offers French haute cuisine, steak, seafood, Mediterranean, Asian, sushi, Caribbean, Italian, and Parisian-style pastries and crepes.

Sandals Grande St. Lucian has 12 restaurants serving international, Italian, crepes, seafood, pizza, Caribbean, grilled specialties, Indian, Japanese teppanyaki, and sushi.

You also have access to all the restaurants at Sandals Halcyon Beach and Sandals Regency La Toc, giving you a total of 28 restaurants.

Sandals Grenada vs. St. Lucia: Activities and Amenities

While Sandals Grenada has a full range of included activities and amenities, there is more on offer at the Sandals in St. Lucia. The main addition is golf, but you also have three resorts to explore as opposed to just one. Also, Sandals Grande St. Lucian offers motorized watersports.

Both Grenada and St. Lucia are known for wonderful snorkeling and scuba diving, which is included at these Sandals resorts.

Activities at Sandals Grenada include scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, Hobie Cat sailing, day and night tennis, beach volleyball, bocce ball, shuffleboard, and table tennis. There are 5 pools and 2 whirlpools.

At Sandals Grande St. Lucian, activities include scuba diving, snorkeling kayaking, paddleboarding, Hobie Cat sailing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, day and night tennis, beach volleyball, other land sports, and golf. There are 5 pools and 3 whirlpools onsite. You also have access to all the amenities and activities at the other two Sandals resorts via a free shuttle.

Both resorts have full fitness centers, which are complimentary, and spas, which are not.

You can also book area excursions for an extra fee, and we highly recommend this at both resorts as Grenada and St. Lucia are some of the most beautiful and interesting islands in the Caribbean.

Sandals Grenada vs St. Lucia: Rooms and Suites

Both Sandals Grenada and Sandals Grande St. Lucian offer unique and luxurious accommodation options: Skypool suites and Rondoval suites at Sandals Grenada, and overwater bungalows and Rondoval suites at Sandals Grande St. Lucian.

Sandals Grenada also offers poolside, walkout, oceanview, and garden view rooms, as well as beachfront walkout, penthouse, and swim-up suites. The nicest options are one-bedroom butler villas with infinity pools, Skypool suites with elevated infinity pools, and Rondoval suites with private pool sanctuaries.

At Sandals Grande St. Lucian, the most famous accommodations are the iconic overwater bungalows. These romantic and private bungalows are set over the Caribbean and offer direct access from a private deck, which also features a hammock, loungers, and an oversized soaking tub for two.

Other options at Sandals Grande St. Lucian are beachfront Rondoval butler suites with private pool sanctuaries, 2-story penthouse suites, Rondoval butler suites with private pool sanctuaries, swim-up suites, beachfront suites, penthouse suites, oceanview suites and rooms, garden view rooms, walkout rooms, luxury rooms, premium rooms, and deluxe rooms.


At both resorts, butler suites come with 24-hour inroom dining and personal butler service.

Although neither of these is a “party” resort, you will have more options at Sandals Grande St. Lucian.
