Our Honest Beaches Turks and Caicos Review

Beaches Resorts are owned by Sandals Resorts and offer the same huge array of inclusions, delicious food, thoughtful design, and excellent service, but they are aimed at families with children instead of at couples. (To see a full comparison check out our article Beaches Resorts vs. Sandals Resorts.)

Whether you have kids or not, however, Beaches resorts are still great to visit—and Beaches Turks & Caicos is absolutely incredible. We went recently and were blown away at how beautiful the beach is and how much fun we had. We especially loved the clear turquoise water and had an amazing time snorkeling.

Since there isn’t a Sandals resort in Turks and Caicos, this Beaches is a great alternative. It’s located near the capital city of Providenciales and is the closest Beaches resort to the U.S.–only a 75-minute flight from Miami.

Beaches Turks & Caicos has 20 restaurants, 15 bars, 10 pools, and a 45,000-square-foot waterpark in addition to the breathtaking beach and a full range of watersports and land activities. For those with kids, there are also tons of family-friendly amenities and activities. Read on for our full and honest Beaches Turks and Caicos review.

  • The waterpark
  • All the included kids’ activities and amenities

Beaches Turks and Caicos Cons

  • Pricey, although you get a lot for your money
  • It’s quite a large resort, so it can be tiring to get around
  • There are lots of children, so if you don’t enjoy that sort of atmosphere you’ll be happier at a Sandals

Beaches Turks and Caicos Beach

The resort is located on Grace Bay Beach, which has been voted one of the best beaches in the world, and we absolutely agree.

As we said before, the beach at Beaches Turks and Caicos is truly spectacular. It’s 12 miles long and has the clearest water we’ve ever seen, with a gorgeous turquoise color. The sand is white and soft.

Beaches Turks and Caicos Activities and Entertainment

In addition to hanging out at the beach, there are tons of complimentary activities at Beaches Turks & Caicos, just like at Sandals resorts. Nonmotorized watersports include snorkeling (we saw turtles, fish, and stingrays!), paddleboarding kayaking, windsurfing, and Hobie Cat sailing—with equipment and instruction included. Motorized watersports include waterskiing.

Also, scuba diving is free for certified divers, which is great because this area is a top diving destination.

Land activities include day and night tennis, pickleball, shuffleboard, table tennis, beach volleyball, soccer, billiards, basketball, outdoor chess, croquet, and pool tables, as well as a fitness center with classes.

Daily and nightly entertainment offers plenty for kids and adults alike, including music, theme nights, beach parties, live shows, and Sesame Street character interactions.

Amenities for kids and teens include Kids’ Camp with certified nannies, an Xbox play lounge, a tropical Choo Choo Train, Port Royal Arcade, and the Club Liquid teen disco (which turns into an adult nightclub later on). Beaches also offers the Caribbean’s first certified autism centers.

There’s also a Red Lane Spa like at Sandals resorts (services cost extra) and excursions are available (which also cost extra).

Beaches Turks and Caicos Waterpark

All of the Beaches resorts have Pirate’s Island waterparks. At Beaches Turks and Caicos the waterpark covers 45,000 square feet with a variety of waterslides, pools including kid-friendly pools (one with a swim-up soda bar), whirlpools, lazy rivers, a surf simulator, and water cannons.

Beaches Turks and Caicos Pools

There are 10 pools at Beaches Turks and Caicos, and they offer something for everyone. Some are in the waterpark. There are also 4 whirlpools.

The Caribbean Village has a cool gigantic pool with a swim-in grotto and waterfalls, as well as a pool with a volleyball net. In the Key West Village, you’ll find a small infinity pool that’s often very uncrowded. There’s also an adults-only pool in this area. The French Village has a large pool that’s great for swimming and has a swim-up bar, with a shallow children’s pool nearby. There’s also a large pool with a connected children’s pool in the Italian Village (usually very crowded).

Beaches Turks and Caicos Restaurants and Bars

Beaches Turks and Caicos has 18 restaurants serving a wide variety of cuisines including international, seafood, Caribbean, Asian, Italian, French, sushi, Mediterranean, Southwestern, pizza, grilled specialties, pastries, and British.  There are also 3 food trucks. Some of the restaurants have great locations on the beach, and one is rooftop for incredible views. Only one, the Japanese teppanyaki restaurant, requires reservations.

The 15 bars include swim-up bars, beach bars, and a British pub.

For couples, two of the restaurants are for adults only: Sopadilla’s Caribbean Cuisine and Le Petit Chateau (which accepts children over 12 but is French fine dining so it’s mostly adults). You can also book a private candlelight dinner on the beach for some romance.

Beaches Turks and Caicos Villages and Accommodations

Accommodations at Beaches Turks and Caicos are divided into four villages: Key West, Caribbean, Italian, and French. These areas have a distinctive vibe and offer differing types of rooms and suites.

The Key West Village is the newest and most quiet area, but it is further away from activities and the beach. The French Village is the furthest away from the beach and is also quiet, although it’s where the waterpark is located. We recommend the French Village for couples due to the upscale and romantic atmosphere and beach views.

The Italian Village is centrally located, beachfront, and pretty busy. The Caribbean Village is older but has a charming atmosphere, is beachfront, and is quieter than the Italian Village.

What families love about Beaches is that the rooms and suites are made for them—they are spacious and come with kid-friendly designs and extras. These include suites with kids’ rooms and villas with up to 4 bedrooms and full living areas and kitchens. Some villas have private plunge pools, and they all come with personal butler service which can really elevate your experience.

Villas differ depending on the village you’re in. In the Key West Village, there are 3-story 3- or 4-bedroom villas with full kitchens and living rooms, dining rooms, multiple bathrooms, oversized jetted tubs, walk-in closets, and outdoor spaces. There are both garden-view and beachfront locations available.

Other room types are ocean-view suites, poolside walkout suites, walkout rooms, ocean-view penthouses, and beachfront walkout suites, all with private outdoor spaces.

The Italian Village has beachfront walkout suites with two bedrooms, two oversized patios, living room and dining table, a bar area with refrigerator and microwave, whirlpool tubs, and rain showers. These also come with butler service.

Beaches Turks and Caicos Tipping

As noted above, tips are included in your Beaches Turks and Caicos cost. In fact, the staff are not allowed to accept tips, so don’t offer them. However, you can tip transfer drivers, spa staff, and excursion staff. If you have a butler suite, you should definitely tip your butlers.

Beaches Turks and Caicos Weddings

Beaches resorts are quite popular for destination weddings and perfect for anyone who is inviting families with children. As at Sandals, there are a range of wedding packages available for anywhere from 2 to 140 people, at a range of price points, with optional extra add-ons.

Beaches Turks and Caicos wedding venues include the beach, an oceanfront gazebo, and more.

Beaches Turks and Caicos Dress Code

The restaurants at Beaches Turks and Caicos all have a dress code, and it is resort casual. This means a shirt and shoes, with a coverup required for bathing suits. Casual clothing like shorts, Tshirts, and flipflops are fine.

Unlike Sandals resorts, there aren’t any that require the dressier resort evening attire., so you can leave those fancier clothes at home if you want.
