Sandals Halcyon Beach is the smallest and most peaceful of the three Sandals resorts on the beautiful island of St. Lucia.
One of the best-rated Sandals resorts, Sandals Halcyon Beach has a 4.5 rating on Google.
We think that St. Lucia is one of the most amazing Caribbean islands to visit, and while we loved our stay at Sandals Halcyon Beach, there are two other Sandals resorts to choose from. To help you decide if this is the right Sandals resort for you, here is our real and honest Sandals Halcyon Beach review.
What to Know About Sandals Halcyon Beach
Sandals Halcyon Beach is set on a beautiful long beach near the capital city of Castries on St. Lucia, which is often called “Little Hawaii” for its stunning natural beauty.
Sandals Halcyon Beach is often a popular choice for honeymooners due to its quiet atmosphere and smaller size. It has been recently renovated and features the Caribbean’s longest lagoon pool. Golfers will love the free green fees and transportation to an 18-hole championship course designed by Greg Norman.
When you stay at Sandals Halcyon Beach, you also have access to all the amenities and activities at the other two resorts on the island, Sandals Grande St. Lucian and Sandals Regency La Toc, via a free shuttle.
Getting to Sandals Halcyon Beach
Sandals Halcyon Beach is about 90 minutes from the airport. Since we get motion-sick and were concerned about the roads, we opted to take the ferry instead.
This was a really fun way to be introduced to the island, and we highly recommend it. Upon landing at the airport, we went to the Sandals desk, told them we wanted to take the ferry, went through customs, and took a short taxi ride to the ferry dock.
The boat trip was beautiful and we enjoyed drinks and snacks along with the amazing scenery. Once we landed it was a 10-minute drive to the resort.
Another option is to take a helicopter, which is quite fast and costs about $200 per person. If you would prefer to stay on land and save money, Sandals offers complimentary transfer service to and from the airport from the resort.
Sandals Halcyon Beach Rooms and Suites
Sandals Halcyon Beach has a range of accommodations available including poolside rooms, walkout rooms with garden views, oceanview rooms, swim-up rooms, rooms with private pools, and beachfront walk-out rooms with Tranquility Soaking Tubs™ for two on the patio, and beachfront rooms with private pool sanctuaries and personal butler service.
New room categories available here are the Koko Rondoval Butler Villa with Private Pool and the Halcyon Shore House Butler Suite with Private Pool and fabulous ocean views.
We stayed in a Grand Luxe Club Level Walkout Room with Patio Tranquility Soaking Tub, which was really nice. We especially liked the patio, and the extra amenities that come with a club level room such as room service and dedicated concierge service.
Sandals Halcyon Beach Restaurants and Bars
Sandals Halcyon Beach has 6 restaurants and offers a variety of cuisines including Caribbean, Italian, French, seafood, Asian, sushi, and international. There’s also food available at the bar by the main pool.
Our favorites were Bayside, which featured a range of choices buffet-style, and Soy Sushi, which had great options like spicy crispy tuna, rainbow rolls, seared tuna tataki, the Crispy Philly, and banana tempura with ice cream. We also loved the views at Kelly’s Dockside, which is set over the water.
You can also get in-room dining if you’re staying in a club or butler-level room or suite. Another option is to request a private candle-lit dinner on the beach.
There are 7 bars at Sandals Halcyon Beach including a swim-up bar.
You can also go to 14 other bars and 21 other restaurants via the free shuttle to Sandals Grande St. Lucian and Sandals Regency La Toc.
The Beach at Sandals Halcyon Beach
The beach at Sandals Halcyon Beach is gorgeous—a long stretch of soft white sand lined with palm trees. And best of all, there are always beach chairs available.
The water here is not very clear and sometimes a little rough. However, you can easily take the shuttle to Sandals Grande St. Lucian, which has calm and clear water that is perfect for swimming and all the complimentary watersports available at Sandals resorts.
The Pools at Sandals Halcyon Beach
Sandals Halcyon Beach has several pools. The main pool was our favorite, as it had activities, a swim-up bar, and servers. Since this resort is smaller, it was easier to make friends, and we enjoyed getting involved in activities and chatting with other guests.
There’s also the lagoon pool in the Crystal Lagoon area by the swim-up suites. It’s the longest in the Caribbean, so it offers plenty of peaceful spots if you’re looking for quiet.
Sandals Halcyon Beach Activities and Amenities
Like all Sandals resorts, Sandals Halcyon Beach offers a range of complimentary watersports, including scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking, paddleboarding, and Hobie Cat sailing. It also has windsurfing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, and waterskiing, and professional instruction is complimentary for everything except scuba diving.
Land-based activities include day and night tennis, croquet, beach volleyball, shuffleboard, pool, table tennis, and lawn chess. There is also a fitness center with classes.
Sandals Halcyon Beach is also one of the Sandals resorts that offers golf. You get free green fees and transportation to the 18-hole championship golf course at Sandals St. Lucia Golf Club near Sandals Grande St. Lucian. There was also a 9-hole course at Regency La Toc, but it’s currently closed.
Nightly entertainment includes theme parties and live music.
In addition, there’s a full-service spa (which costs extra).
Every Sandals resort also offers excursions, which cost extra. There is so much to do in St. Lucia, and we highly recommend checking it out on some trips. We loved the boat ride to see the Pitons and a waterfall, as well as a trip to the volcanic mud pits—great for the skin!
Sandals Halcyon Beach Honeymoons
Sandals Halcyon Beach is a popular honeymoon resort due to the small size and location on gorgeous St. Lucia. Plus, you can get a free honeymoon package if you come within 30 days of your wedding. This includes a bottle of chilled sparkling wine, a romantic turndown service with flower petals on your first night, breakfast in bed one morning, and fresh flowers.
Sandals Halcyon Beach Cost
The rates at Sandals Halcyon Beach currently start at $266 per person per night.
Sandals Halcyon Beach Pros and Cons
Sandals Halcyon Beach is a beautiful and peaceful resort that is perfect for couples looking for a quiet stay who also enjoy getting out and about. It offers the perfect mix, with the ability to enjoy everything at Sandals Grande St. Lucian and Regency La Toc as well as all the cool excursions available on the island. It also offers complimentary golf.
Some couples, however, feel that it’s too small, and some prefer the clear water you’ll find at Grande St. Lucian’s beach.
