Location and How to Get There
Sandals South Coast is located on the south western shore of Jamaica in a private, rural setting surrounded by a 500 acre nature reserve. When booking an overwater bungalow, a private transfer is included for the 90-minute drive from the Sangster International Airport. The road is windy so you might consider a helicopter transfer instead at an additional cost.
Accommodation
Staying in a bungalow at Sandals South Coast is a totally unique experience. Each bungalow is equipped with beautifully furnished interiors, a king sized bed, air conditioning, a private deck with direct access to the crystal waters, a glass floor panel in the room to view marine life below, a private infinity pool and hot tub on the deck, along with private butler service to assist with room service and scheduling excursions.
Some of my favorite features are the spa-like bathroom features including his and hers sinks, a walk-in rain shower, an outdoor shower, and a soaking tub on the deck.
Because the overwater bungalows are at the far end of the resort you butler can always come and get you in a golf cart.
In every bungalow, there is a stocked refrigerator and a bar with mini bottles of alcohol. If you want any other drinks, you can always ask your butler.
Dining Options
Sandals South Coast offers an array of different cuisines, Italian, Caribbean classics, and Asian fusion to name a few. Couples staying in the bungalows are welcome to dine at any of the restaurants but don’t even have to leave the comfort of their bungalow as there is 24-hour room service. Not only can they order from the room service menu, but also your butler can bring you anything from any of the restaurant menus.
For breakfast, you’ll want to get room service since the overwater bungalows are far from the breakfast restaurants.
For lunch, we love the food trucks which include tacos or some awesome grilled or fried chicken fingers.
Excursions or Activities
While its easy to stay in the bungalow for most of the stay, there are many excursions and activities to choose from to shake up the days. Watersports like paddle boarding or kayaking, scuba diving, private boat tours at sunset, and off resort excursions are all available nearby. The Red Lane Spa is also a favorite for couples massages and other body treatments.
Also nearby is YS Falls and because you are closer to the falls than other resorts, groups from Sandals South Coast arrive before the crowds.
Environment
Couples can expect Sandals South Coast Bungalows to be a tranquil setting. Sandals South Coast Resort is further away from any hustle and bustle of the cities so it provides a truly serene escape. The overwater bungalows are very private as they are isolated from the rest of the resort.
If you want a more lively environment you can have your butler reserve chairs by the main pool for you.
